We were thrilled to feature Wildsight's Youth Climate Corps for our inaugural noon-time webinar series. We learned about the history of YCC, first-hand accounts from past participants, and their exciting new plans for the new year. We also broke into small groups where we shared our ideas about some specific questions:
What do young people need to face climate change and help us build a resilient community?
Using your imagination, what would be the best possible project YCC could do?
Do you know of any current project opportunities that might fit?
See more info on their website about how youth 17-30 years old can apply for the coming season. The intake for the coming season is currently open for both West Kootenay and Kimberley-Cranbrook crews.
For information on bringing YCC to another community outside the Kootenays, check out www.youthclimatecorps.com.
The West Kootenay Climate Hub plans to feature other hub partners and initiatives this spring at noon on the third Friday of the month. We welcome your ideas.
Join us for our next noon webinar on March 18 to hear from the West Kootenay Cycling Coalition about some of their exciting new initiatives. Please watch for our March newsletter for how to join. Sign up to get there our newsletter here: www.westkootenayclimatehub.ca/join-us
