About the event
Kootenay Carshare Cooperative is continually evolving and innovating to meet the needs of the communities it serves. Our mandate is to reduce greenhouse gases from privately owned vehicles and we have been taking this mission to new levels.
In this webinar we will talk about our experience with introducing electric vehicles and more recently, low speed electric vehicles, into our fleet. We have upgraded our sharing platform to allow others to share their vehicles through our platform, using our insurance and infrastructure to have certified drivers pay vehicle owners to rent their cars.
Looking into the future we have an opportunity to take on the Kootenay Rideshare website and potentially incorporate load sharing networks across our region. The pandemic hit us hard but we are hopeful, that with community support, we will be able to get back on track and be more resilient and effective than ever before.
Colleen Matte has been dedicated to the growth and sustainability of Kootenay Carshare since she was hired in 2009. Her passion for environmental protection and organization skills has fueled KCC in becoming one of the only successful rural Carshares in the world. She is driven to see electric vehicles become part of KCC’s services and passionate about providing environmental solutions to reduce Columbia Basin residence dependence on fossil fuels.
