This event is hosted by the East Kootenay Climate Hub. Bring your lunch and join/depart as it fits your schedule. There will be time for dialogue. Note the time is noon MDT / 11 am PDT.
Tim Chapman and Mel Lavery will be speaking about Wildsight's Youth Climate Corps (YCC) which are active on projects in the East Kootenay & West Kootenay. YCC exists to connect, inspire, and empower young adults interested in making a difference for the greatest challenge of this generation: the climate crisis.
"We work together to minimize the impacts of climate change while building a more resilient future. Our crews address climate change at the local level, directly in their communities and the ecosystems that surround them."
YCC extends across Canada and has been hard at work since 2020."
This talk will include: - Overview of activities - Highlights - What are the key challenges and opportunities YCC faces? - How can we support?
Tim Chapman came to his current role with Wildsight and the Youth Climate Corps through his passion to teach others, learn, and share knowledge and experience. Tim has worked with Provincial Parks, Conservation Authorities, and in Forestry Consulting. Tim is Coordinator for the Kimberley/Cranbrook Youth Climate Corps
Mel Lavery brings extensive experience in developing and administering outdoor education curriculum for schools and not-for-profits, and is engaging in a Masters’ in Environmental Education and Communication. Mel is Coordinator for the West Kootenay Youth Climate Corps.
